Bishop Richard N. Murray

Richard is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1969, where he was called to the ministry in 1971 and ordained in 1975. He worked at Shell Oil Company and attended San Jacinto College.

In December 1980, he was married to his lovely wife Eleanor. Through this union, the Lord gave Pastor Richard and Eleanor two beautiful daughters, Teresa and Kimberly.

While in Houston, he worked in the New Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles O'Briant. He heard the voice of God instructing him to come to Amarillo to bring people out of spiritual bondage. Thus, in March of 1986, they organized New Light Baptist Church, later changing to New Light Ministries. His ultimate goal is to bring a 'Spiritual Awakening Through the Truth' to this community, which is now our 'motto.' God wants us to bring the church into a position of excellence, teaching a foundation of Biblical truths to His people, exposing them to the unbridled 'Word of God' thereby equipping them to do the work of the Kingdom.

In August of 1995, he received a Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree from Logos Christian College and continued to study there, and in March of 2003 received a Master's of Theological Studies Degree, graduating with honors.
